South Hills and Trapdoors

We had a wonderful hike this morning along the ridges of Glendora’s South Hills.  And thanks to Margie, we discovered a whole (abandoned) community of trapdoor spiders!

Their homes are tiny, with a leaf for a roof (or a trap-door), cemented with a web and buried in the ground.  Click on any of the pictures below to start the slideshow.
